Hells Headbangers Records have been releasing a lot of raw and chaotic stuff lately, and Christophilia certainly fits in that category. Nighnacht mix things up a little here with some parts that sound like a speedy chaotic mess (pay attention and find the method to the madness) and much slower, evil-sounding passages that ooze of a dark and haunting atmosphere that's almost bone-chilling. "Crippled Traitor" is even a little bit catchy at times. Think of a mix of first-wave and lo-fi second-wave black metal. The sick raspy, tormented vocals are a highlight, really pulling everything together. A very cool debut EP, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from these guys. |
