Crunchy Germanic power metal stalwarts Iron Fire are back in 2019 with their 9th full-length, Beyond the Void. As expected, Martin Steene and his crew deliver ballsy, anthemic cut after cut, highlighted by Kirk Backarach's tight riffs and Gunnar Olsen's thunderous drumming. The speed factor is higher on Beyond the Void than on the past couple of Iron Fire albums and that is always a good thing in any stripe of power metal. Steene's also sharpened his hook writing skills and has penned a couple of insanely catchy choruses for "Cold Chains of the North" and "One More Bullit". This is a very consistent effort from the Danes, hearkening back to their debut Thunderstorm. No frills, no bullshit, just awesomely gritty power metal that will have the air guitar out in no time.
