Warchest hail from Santiago, Chile, and like most bands from Chilean scene, these boys can fucking thrash. The stars this band follows are those of the Bay Area thrashers, particularly Vio-lence's Eternal Nightmare, and they follow in their footsteps with intense, unstoppable aggression. Every song on this album has driving riffs and spot-on solos, but they also include demanding tempo changes and some nice melodic work to show that they're here to be taken seriously and become a potent force in Thrash. Vocalist Christian Pelaez sounds a lot like Power Trip's Riley Gale; that is, he has a slightly hardcore tone filled with hatred and testosterone, and I couldn't imagine a better fit for the band if I tried. This was my introduction to the band, and now I have to go and get their previous two albums to see if they give me as much of an adrenaline rush as this one does. Either way, Sentenced Since Corruption is an excellent example of what makes the Chilean scene so great, and any fan of Thrash will want to add it to their collection. |
