This is pretty cool. Colombia's Daemoni play second-wave black metal that sticks to what you would expect from the genre back in the day, but with the added value of a good production job and some fine-tuned musicianship that sometimes went missing when the genre was making the waves. Fear not, for the band still manages to make their black metal sound raw enough and pretty dark, sometimes a bit mysterious and often catchy and with the right balance of mid-to fast-paced basic black metal, making Black Tyrant a nice little modern gem. Throw in some top-notch haunting vocals as icing on the cake. Some bands jump on that era and fail at doing it right, but Daemoni know how to deliver the goods and make you begging for more. |
