Brazil's Hellish Grave is riding the black/thrash/speed wave that has been crashing on the shores of the metal scene for quite a while with no sign of letting up. Hell No Longer Waits is the band's second full-length and it is a little different from a lot of other contenders in the field with vocals that are decidedly more black and riffs that are less thrash (there is a definite Iron Maiden vibe to some of the guitar work). I wouldn't call Hell No Longer Waits "black and roll" or anything, but other than the vocals, the songs on the album are less extreme than you might expect from a South American outfit. The album is consistent with no real weak tracks and includes a couple of instrumentals that much less harsh than the rest of the songs, but overall there isn't much in the way of standout material. I'm sure this goes over quite well live, but as an album, Hell No Longer Waits is a bit generic. |
