This is exactly what it looks like, no better and no worse. Devils are a band from Ohio who play down and dirty Black/Thrash that is not dirty enough, nor thrashy enough. The songwriting is highly generic for this kind of band, the vocals are a bad croak, and the guitar sound is too weak. All these things can be overcome if the riffs and energy are good enough, but they aren't, and there's too much of a rock vibe to this for it to be really feral. It's not terrible, but it doesn't do anything for me. |
