Ivory Tower have been hibernating since 2011, and after a change in the vocal duties (Rapid Angel's Dirk Meyer) they deliver one of their strongest works to date (no pun intended). Dirk's vocals sound like if Dirk Thurisch (of Angel Dust fame), Bob Catley and Terje Harøy (Pyramaze) had a love child, which is awesome. The sound shifted from a full prog/power approach to a euro-power centered one, especially in the instrumental parts. Massive tracks like opener "The Offer", "Loser" and "Life Will Fade" illustrate the rare approach used for a power metal band these days, which can be traced to that of Angel Dust's early 2000s era, current Pyramaze and something like a mix between Communic and Anubis Gate. Stronger is a sharp turn in Ivory Tower's good discography, being adventurous, pristine and fun at the same time. Its killer execution is definitely enough to keep you on your feet and put it on repeat. Highly recommended. |
