Embludgeonment do not offer anything really out of the ordinary on Barn Burner. If the band's name made you think "brutal death metal", well, you win (nothing, really, other than the feeling of being right... ;)) This is just over 33 minutes of punishing, precise death metal with razor-sharp guitars, indecipherable growls, all in a really good mix of very fast and much slower pace, sometimes borderline standstill. It's well done, but it's been done before—not necessarily better or worse. If brutal death metal makes you tick, then this might just be the kind of punishment you're hankering for.
