A new URN album is always welcome here. These black thrashing titans from Finland have always known how to deliver the goods and Iron Will of Power is no exception. This one is much more refined and melodic than in the past, yet it's not like the band has compromised. It's still fast, heavy and brutal music but they've masterfully inserted a lot of quiet melodic parts, not without reminding me of what Metallica did with a few songs in the mid-80s, only here it's done better with a darker, yet strangely soothing vibe. It sounded a little weird at first since I did not quite expect that, but this is one of those albums that ended up on regular rotation here. I rarely bother picking a favourite or highlight, but "Spears of Light" is a great catchy speedster with a really cool chorus with a bit of an epic/grandiose vibe. Incoming singalong! Enough said. Iron Will of Power is another winner in the URN discography. |
