Third album for this obscure Russian band who play a moody, somewhat depressive stripe of Black Metal, mixing in elements of Funeral Doom, as well as a definite influence from bands like Agalloch, this is an album with a lot of diversity in the sound. From atmospheric acoustic/piano passages, to blasting tremolo riffs and croaking vocals trading off with some rather good clean singing, this music covers a lot of ground, and yet the compositions hold up, and don't just become assemblages of parts with no center to them. An album with a definite feel and mood that carried you through, and makes for a satisfying listen. |
