Third album for this Texas band who play loooong instrumental Doom songs with a sort of nightmarish southwestern vibe. The guitar sound here is nice and thick, with a lot of meat on the bones. The riffs sound more Candlemass to me than Sabbath, and don't really go for that sludgy, tube-amp sound as much as I would have expected. That said, the songs are a bit too long for how much there is in them, and the riffs repeat a few too many times, so by the time a new part gets going, you are really ready for it. I feel like this band needs to put more elements in their compositions, as what they have just cannot quite sustain the running times. This is excellent for mood music, but for primary listening this drags on a little too long. |
