Malignament is a new band (formed in 2019) out of Finland that plays a straightforward brand of black metal on their first foray into the scene, Demo I. The rasping vocals are standard, the guitars follow a loose, sometimes atonal melody and the atmosphere is crusty and evil, so you've heard stuff like this before. It is well played for a band's first effort and the songwriting is solid, more so that you might expect this early in a career. Both of those facts make Malignament a group to watch for the discerning black metal fan as their apparent position ahead of the new band learning curve points to a potential for something really good in the not too distant future. |
