This is the second album from Belgian Death/Thrash maniacs Dawnbreath, and I can tell you that it fuckin' rips! Musically, they work a vein of Death/Thrash that's not too far removed from Malevolent Creation, specifically Retribution. They lean more on the Thrash side of things, both old school and modern in this case, with much of the Death coming from vocalist/guitarist Maxime Reul's semi-growled delivery that's occasionally reminiscent of Demonic-era Testament. No filler material here, just song after song of groovy, hard-hitting riffs, intense drumming, tight musicianship, and a sense of professionalism and confidence that most bands could only dream of having. These guys are currently independent, but at this rate, they really should get put on some label's roster and be thanked for being on it. Well recommended. |
