Teodolit was formed in 2014 by bassist/vocalist Oksana Rage and guitarist Vald, and after a bunch of demos they released their full-length debut The Antagonist in 2017. It was a strictly digital release at the time, but Swedish label Cryptorium Records decided that this needed a physical release, which is good for me because I prefer physical media and it gives me an excuse to talk about how much ass this band kicks. Death/Thrash is the name of the game here, and Teodolit go at it with all blistering energy and ravenous, evil intent you need to make it work. If you've heard Morbid Angel, Kreator, or Amon/Deicide, then you know what you're in for with this band, and they do it with just enough conviction to stand out from the rest. Special mention has to go to Oksana, who not only has bass prowess equal to Steve DiGiorgio, but also has a voice that sounds like it's spewing swarms of bug-eyed demons come to tear the flesh from your quivering bones. If you're in the market for some Death/Thrash that'll grind you to dust, or if you're already a fan and just want a snazzy physical version of this album, then this is an album to treasure. |
