Seattle's Sölicitör is a speed metal band that puts the pedal down and barely lets up on their self-titled EP that is getting a re-release courtesy of Gates of Hell Records in anticipation of a full-length slated for some time in 2020. The sound and production are old school all the way, kind of thin and full of echo like an early Loudness record. In other words, accurate for the time period they are aiming at. The songwriting is fairly generic with cuts like "Speed Tyrant" and "Vulture Command" hitting the notes you would expect from a band that listened to a lot of Skeptics Apocalypse and Killing Is My Business... Nothing wrong with that, but the EP isn't overly memorable though certainly entertaining while it is on. If you dig speed metal that isn't overtly thrash, a la Agent Steel, Exciter, Toxik, etc., Sölicitör is a band you should probably check out. |
