This Swiss band get listed as "atmospheric" Black Metal, and while there is a lot of atmosphere here, the sound is nowhere near as laid-back as that label would have you think. The opener is all synths and mellow harmonies, and so I thought this was going to be all like that, but then it cranked up and there is a lot of heaviness and blasting drum work over most of the runtime of this album, even when this band slows down, they don't go soft. So, yeah, this album has atmosphere, but it's more along the lines of Limbonic Art than Druadan Forest. For those who want their atmospheric metal to still fucking rip. |
