This is some decent run-of-the-mill death metal that doesn't invent anything but it's good while it's on. There are three "Invocation" tracks that are kind of silly spoken satanic incantations or whatever and they don't do much else than distract from the music. With a name like Infernal Legion, you'd expect something that's pedal to the metal, but the band have a knack for melody and there's quite a bit of that here. It's not what's commonly known as melodic death metal; it's death metal with a lot of melody. That doesn't water it down but rather keeps it more interesting throughout the duration of the album. It's not the most memorable thing I've heard, but it has its moments. |
