With a band name like that, and being from Australia, I was expecting some Mad Max-themed hard and heavy stuff. I was surprised, however, by how much depth this band put into their music. This could have easily just been beer & pretzels Priest-worship with lyrics about cars and explosions, and the first few tracks are pretty much that, but as it goes on, this album sounds more and more like classic US Metal like Liege Lord, especially in the vocals of bassist/vocalist Denny Blake, who sounds more than a little like Joe Comeau. The compositions get more dense and more complicated, and songs like "Thunder & Fighting" and "The Diamond Forge" are killer slices of complex, classic-sounding metal in the US/'80s vein. This is a band to watch. |
