Damn... It's about time I got some material from this band - I just wish it had happened sooner! Desaster plays raw, brutal and heavily 80s-influenced thrash metal. The vocals are very raw, yet clean enough to understand the lyrics without too much effort (with a few exceptions ;)) - a good combination. The music is a combination of the sound of great 80's thrash bands such as Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, with some "clean" heavy metal riffs thrown in the mix. The result is brutal, yet somewhat catchy, and highly addictive headbanging material! YES! This kills. It's been a while since I've listened to an album so many times in a row, and yet did not at all feel the urge or need to put on some other album. No trendy gimmick here, just metal, metal, metal and more metal! I should mention that, based on my experience, this album is excellent for long, boring highway driving. Now get the hell out of the left lane! :) The booklet is very well done, including all lyrics with a picture of a castle in ruins as background, and also a few band photos - impressive work considering they're on a small label (Iron Pegasus rules!) Hell, there isn't much more I can say, Desaster live up to the extremely positive comments I had heard about them. An excellent album that deserves a place in every thrash fan's collection. |
