Nebelwind are a two-man project from Germany that works in moody Atmospheric Black Metal not too far removed from bands like Drudkh or early Burzum. There are some stirring melodies tucked away in here, but most of this is fairly standard for the genre with repetitive rolling riffs and songs that aim for epic and tolling but often end up being long and little else. The vocals range from a decent bellow to a dry croak that I found mildly annoying, so the best parts of this album are when they shut up and let the moody arrangements do their thing. If you want something moody and occasionally affecting, this will hit the spot, but it's nothing essential. |
