Review

This band broke up in 2016, not long after the release of the debut album Crack the Earth, and since I enjoyed that disc a lot, I was sad to see them go. Now, a few years later, Guitarist/Vocalist Travis Roach has resurrected the band as a one-man act and is back to making music.

Even as sole band member, Roach retains his knack for catchy, memorable riffs, and this album sparkles with the same good hooks as the debut. There may not be a song on here as good as the first album's title cut, but it is remarkably solid all the way through. As a vocalist, Roach is weaker. I like that he is using the vocal effects less this time out, but he still is not the strongest singer. It does help that he comes up with solid vocal lines and doesn't try things he can't pull off.

If you like crunching, catchy Heavy/Doom, then the survival of Ice Howl should be cause for celebration. I am glad to find this band still kicking.
