Witching Hour—the German one—play black/trashing heavy metal that combines speed and aggression with a sizeable dose of melody and there's a bit of a "despair vibe" in the vocalist's style that helps set this apart from other bands in the genre. The band plays with the speed and precision we've come to expect, but they do this while maintaining an old-school style that includes some '70s hard/heavy rock, early '80s heavy metal and there's even a hint of plain old rock 'n' roll popping up subtly here and there, not to mention some heavy and soothing slow passages. This may be a crowded genre, but Witching Hour do enough to distinguish themselves from the crowd with this album. |
