This is the 12th album in 14 years for this band, one of those insanely productive one-man bands. Sole member Wolfir has cranked out a dozen full-lengths alongside six splits and six EPs as well as a few other miscellaneous bits and bobs. This is moody, largely instrumental stuff with a lot of fine instrumentation and sparse rasps to set things off here and there. There's not much in the way of keys, so this is not reminiscent of Summoning or their increasingly populous imitators, but with the acoustic breaks and mournful melodies this reminds me much more of Black/Doom projects like one often gets from this part of the world. Solid if not amazing. |
