HOR are among the recent resurgence of Greek Black Metal bands, and I can't say they're doing a whole lot to stand out among them. What we have are four fairly lengthy songs that try to do that old Darkthrone thing where the long lengths, muted production, and minimalistic songwriting are supposed to evoke feelings of misanthropy and hatred, but they don't quite pull it off. The riffs are pretty good, but not enough to go on as long as they do, the vocals are a one-note howl that doesn't add too much, the drumming is barely audible, and the whole thing just kind of buzzes by without making much of an impression. Not without potential, but nothing mandatory. |
