Another Hellgoat reissue from Boris Records, Death Conquers All was released six years after Blasphemy from Serpent Tongues and this time the band left the super-raw approach of their debut for something more polished in terms of production quality and the music itself is much more "loaded", for lack of a better word, the results being some blasting black metal reminiscent of the mid-90s Scandinavian scene. While they've polished things off, they did not let the foot off the pedal, and one could say that this is just as fast, brutal and tortured as their debut. The vocals are nightmare-inducing and add some atmosphere to this orgy of aural chaos. Hellgoat didn't deviate much from their original approach here, but rather just delivered it with a slightly less rattling vehicle. Don't worry, you'll definitely still feel like you were just run over by a train. |
