Review

This is some seriously face-ripping old school death metal with the obligatory thrashy edge and it's been on regular rotation here for a while, yet another album that just begs for repeated listens. The album is insanely fast at times but without sacrificing any sense of "order", really just mopping the floor with your face while you enjoy this precisely delivered slab of crushing death metal. There are squealy solos aplenty that will slice your eardrums in pieces. An oddity popping up here and there is the occasional slowdowns that are more akin to mid-80s thrash, even reminding me of a couple of songs on Metallica's Ride the Lightning. They don't sound like Metallica per se, but some of the pounding melodies do seem to have been inspired by that landmark album and often made me want to just put that on for a bit. Summary Execution at Dawn is heavy, crushing, fast and takes no prisoner, all done with razor-sharp precision. This is their first full-length since forming in 2010 and it certainly hints at good things coming if they can keep the savagery and quality up.
