I've been keeping up with these maniacs from the province of Alberta, Canada, for many years but never actually reviewed one of their albums. If anything, they're consistent. And I did mean it with the "maniacs" comment. There's nothing pretty about the brand of blackened death that these guys haven been doing for many years. The vocals are undecipherable raspy screeches and the music is raw as fuck and primitive to the core. Forget about any hint of melody or even anything (mostly) that will really stick in your head, this is lo-fi stuff that's a bit above that bathroom black metal of the '90s. Two prerequisites for listening to this: You need the trained ear in raw, primitive extreme metal and you need to be in the right mood. Most people will likely just run the hell away from this, but for the others, sometimes you're just in that fuck-the-world mood and this stuff fits the bill. |
