This band's debut was already a damn fine piece of blackened thrash, but here Occult Burial have outdone themselves. It's fast as fuck at times (they don't exactly ever do "slow," mind you) and there really isn't much breathing room for the listener throughout. These guys play it hard, precise but raw, and with enough energy to power a metropolis. They do a good job of mixing a bit of an old school sound with a more modern approach to the genre. The vocals are insane shrieks that really pierce through the speakers and will get the neighbours to move out (that can come in handy...) Pedal-to-the-metal, catchy and fun black/thrash with a bit of melody thrown in when they're not slicing and dicing everything in their path is what this album is all about. It is really, really hard to make the decision to hit stop and put something else on. Highly recommended. |
