This is a vinyl reissue, limited to 100 copies, of a 2018 demo by this French black metal band. If you like your black metal doomy, gloomy, tortured and depressive, with a raw and minimalistic '90s-style delivery, then you're bound to find something to like here. The vocals are a delightful torture for the ears, raspy and shrieky with some clean chants here and there, conveying a disturbing feeling of helplessness and despair. The music is straightforward and chaotic, yet filled with beautiful and sorrowful melodies, and the result is highly effective in producing a depressive atmosphere that will make even the most beautiful sunny day feel like a thunderstorm is approaching. Keyboards are used quite a bit but aren't pretty in any way, rather just adding to the sense of doom and gloom that paints this entire release. This might have first seen life as a demo, but it's better than a lot of full-blown studio releases. |
