This band plays melodic black metal very reminiscent of the late '90s and early 2000s. It's pretty polished stuff though extreme enough to satisfy most listeners of the genre. Where the band shines is in the atmosphere, which is both soothing and somewhat chilling and horror-like, reminding me a little bit of what Dimmu Borgir were doing at some point and maybe even more like Cradle of Filth (without the over-the-top annoyances). The more melodic moments are quite melancholic without sounding too depressing. With that said, the album drags a bit too long, mainly because it feels like a long song, lacking variety. Still a good listen on a rainy day. |
