This is an album of gleefully heavy crushing from a Chicago band who definitely have the sort of ripping brutality I expect from the scene that produced both Usurper and Forest of Impaled. I also hear a bit of the primal sound of Lair of the Minotaur in the mix here, both in the production and the riff style. This is nothing Death Metal fans have not heard before, particularly if they like classic Bolt Thrower (and who doesn't?) This is just done up with so much energy and heaviness that it overcomes how derivative it is and you just have a good time flailing your head and wishing you had someone to hit with an axe. Fun for the whole family. |
