Question Everything is the third album from California's Helion Prime and it is another fine slab of power metal as this band has developed a knack for writing solid riffs and ear-pleasing vocal lines. The songwriting is on the crunchy side and the band sticks firmly to standard power metal unlike a lot of female-fronted bands that bring a gothic flavor to the mix. Songs like "The Gadfly" and "Question Everything" will sound familiar to anyone that digs power metal, but the writing is sharp and exciting so, while it doesn't break ground, it's fun to listen to. I don't think Question Everything reaches the high mark set by the band's debut, but it is better than their last one. If you don't need your power metal to innovate but you do like to get out the air guitar or air drumsticks, this one will scratch that itch. |
