Deathcraeft is a relatively new band out of Greece that has unleashed a debut album called On Human (D)evolution. Deathcraeft play an aggressive, slightly melodic brand of death metal which features harsh but decipherable vocals, a buzz saw guitar sound and background keys/synths that give the songs extra weight. The lyrics are macabre, drawing inspiration almost exclusively from the loathsome, cosmic horrors of H.P. Lovecraft's works. I don't find On Human (D)evolution breaks any molds of thrash or death nor is the band covering any new ground lyrically as so many bands have plumbed the dark depths of Lovecraft's world. Nevertheless, it is a heavy, crushing album of well-played thrashy death metal. |
