Canada's Hellnite present some decent but kind of "sloppy" heavy thrash on their debut album. It's pretty catchy stuff for the most part and some of this stuff will stick in your head. I prefer the thrashier and heavier parts where the somewhat muddy sound quality is beneficial, somehow adding to the heaviness. The songs are sometimes a bit unfocused, the kind where it sounds killer until they change directions in the middle and leave you wondering what the hell just happened. The vocals are so-so; not bad per se, but the style isn't a perfect fit. So, this is not a perfect album, but there are a lot of good parts here and there that nonetheless make most of it kind of fun and there's much foot-tapping and headbanging to be had. |
