This is a short digital-only EP of covers recorded in the band's rehearsal room. They were first available as bonus tracks on collector's editions of their last album, The Mother of All Plagues. This is fun. The band picked four classics of raw heavy metal, namely Hellhammer's "The Third of the Storms", Venom's "In League with Satan", Possessed's "The Exorcist" and Motörhead's "Go to Hell" and just went with it. Thankfully, the essence of the originals remains intact and Mercyless simply deliver them with a bit of a death metal twist on them, cranking up the heaviness somewhat but not too much. The vocals are clean enough, avoiding the death growls trap that sometimes ruins covers, and add some bite to the songs. Obviously not an essential release, but it's a good respectful take on those metal classics.
