With only a locally produced demo to their credit, Miami, Florida's Incursion concluded a brief run in the mid-80s but is now back with their debut, a concept EP titled The Hunter. The unabashedly hard-charging music on this release is pure traditional metal from a time before genres were everything. "Warrior of Destruction" has the speed and infectious choruses of Riot while "Guiding Faith" has the brooding, mid-paced menace of Omen and even a hint of early thrash. The storyline is of a wronged warrior fighting his way across an unforgiving world, which is a metal as it gets. The Hunter is 22 minutes of ass-kicking music and the word is the band is working on a full-length for the not-too-distant future. If you like Omen, Riot, Jag Panzer, Warlord, Manowar and bands like that, you need to sink your teeth into The Hunter. |
