This is a short and not-so-sweet split between a couple of Finland's most underground and revolting monsters, Cannibal Accident and Skulmagot. With seven songs that clock in at a little under 16 minutes in total, you probably have a good idea what both these bands are going to be about, and thankfully they're both pretty good at what they do. First up is Death/Grind maniacs Cannibal Accident, and honestly, there's not much I can say here that I haven't already said in my previous reviews of their work. They've always been about serving up a sick, pulsating stew of mindless energetic blasting that contains some of the funniest gross-out lyrics I've read in quite a while, and after hearing their four tracks on here, I can safely say they've yet to disappoint me. The remaining three songs are bashed out by 2-man act Skulmagot, who instead opt for a more technical sound similar to The Bleeding-era Cannibal Corpse. Despite only being two dudes, there's enough brutality and technicality here for a full band, and fans of American acts like Suffocation and Rottrevore will find a lot to love. Personally, this impressed me enough to consider giving their 2018 debut, Skulled to Death, a look, and that's a pretty solid endorsement for their music as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line, if you're in the market for some brief and gnarly Death and Grind like only the Finnish underground can produce, this split is worth picking up and the two bands in question well worth supporting. |
