This is a small split between the relatively young Turkish Black/Death act Hatevömit and U.S. Death Metal legends Nunslaughter, the latter of which has a discography vast enough to make you reconsider having a physical collection. Hatevömit begins the proceedings with "Possessed Nightmare", a mid-paced number with some keyboard sections to add atmosphere. It's an alright song, but the primal and aggressive "Necro Future" is much better, able to create a menacing and vile atmosphere without the need for trivial things like melody. Both songs are solid examples of Blackened Death Metal nonetheless, making them worthy to stand alongside the likes of Nunslaughter. Speaking of which, Nunslaughter round out the rest of the split with a re-recorded version of "Fuck the Bastards", which has updated the song into as vile a display of thunderous Black/Death as you can get, and "Satanic Slut", which is more of the faceripping you've come to expect from the band. Nunslaughter are Nunslaughter, nothing more, nothing less, just good old-school carnage and blasphemy that's never less than entertaining to listen to. Overall, a solid split of raw power and energy from old and new bands alike. Let evil prevail. |
