Seeds of Death is the debut from Norway's Evoke, a band very much in the black/thrash mold of Bewitcher, Black Mass, Midnight, etc. who have all built their sound on the foundations laid by Slayer and Celtic Frost. Speed, maniacal vocals, and satanic lyrics are present in copious amounts with much of the album sounding similar to the myriad of bands playing this style but with just a bit more individuality than most. "Deadly Revenge", "Souls of the Night" and "Wrathcurse" are going to sound quite familiar to anyone that's been perusing this scene with any amount of attention but Evoke work some creepy cellos into "Satanic Rebirth", closing out Seeds of Death on a high note. Evoke play nothing new but they are a cut above the crowd, so check them out if rampaging black/thrash is your thing. |
