Destrooooooooooy! If some people complained that last year's come back album lacked something, they will most likely be satisfied with "The Antichrist"! Better sound, more aggressive, faster, more Destruction - that's pretty much how this album can be described. The album starts with a quiet, 49-seconds spoken intro and then continues in a non-stop 41 minutes of pure thrash metal. Do not expect to have time to catch your breath while headbanging on this stuff. Thrash fans won't find too much to complain about here, except maybe for a couple of repetitive and simple riffs here and there - but that's being a bit picky considering the overall greatness of the material presented here. The sound does seem to be a little too polished at times though. Nothing to lose sleep over. Some electronically-altered vocals on "Godfather of Slander" are a little bit annoying and sound out of place - the song could have done very well without those. My favorite tracks happen to be all in sequence: "Nailed To The Cross", "Dictators Of Cruelty" and "Bullets From Hell". There are no weak tracks on the album but those three really stand out. Destruction's still got it and this album is there to prove it. The music is aggressive and has got attitude. This is a must-have in any thrash fan's collection. |
