Burning Eerie Lore is the second album from Canada's Occult Burial, a band trying to make waves in the crowded black/thrash pool. The songs are fast with high-pitched, wailing vocals that all seem to rely on the same riffs and vocal inflections. This means the songs sound very similar to one another, so much so that I was hard-pressed to tell one from the next. There are a few sound effects here and there, but they do little to raise anything above the swirling chaos of the album. I found Burning Eerie Lore to be bland and maybe a little irritating, but the harsh monotony may be someone else's cup of tea. To my ears, there is a lot better black/thrash to be found out there. |
