Hollow Earth Theory is the second album from the U.K.'s Incinery, full of their brand of modern thrash. I like that the guitars are not overly down tuned and there are some ripping leads, but I find the vocals overly screamy and core-ish. The lyrics are above average and not your standard, boilerplate "the world sucks, politicians suck, corporations suck" socio-economic rants, so if the vocals don't get in your the way, there are some interesting things to unpack. I don't hate Hollow Earth Theory, but it doesn't ring the bell for me either. On balance, it's OK. If you dig thrash, check it out as your mileage may vary. |
