Surprisingly, this is my first time checking out Cadaver (or Cadaver Inc., as they called themselves for a time) despite reading many reviews and interviews over the years. Edder & Bile sounds like some good old-school death metal with a hint of a modern edge to it. So, this is not your hyperblasting, crushing death metal but rather more thrashy and even a little "rocking" at times with a few catchy bits. The raspy growls are especially of note, relatively decipherable and I even found them kind of catchy and memorable and they give the album a hint of a blackened vibe. The music is overall mid to fast paced and there's a hell of a lot of headbanging potential in here, which will no doubt make for some pretty lively crowds at live shows (if we ever get those back...sigh...) It's not a long album but it feels like it's just the right length and everything in here gels together, flowing very nicely from beginning to end. I don't know if Cadaver's previous works are anything like Eddie & Bile, but this a cool little slab of death metal that makes me want to go back and find out. |
