It's kind of surprising nobody has ever tried to replicate the sound of Falconer, but now we have Parsifal, who may be unsigned, but are doing an amazing job getting the sound of Falconer down, with some added dashes of Blind Guardian. This is the third Parsifal album, and they seem to have had a different singer on each one, but current crooner Eamon Dooley is a dead ringer for Mathias Blad, to the point where if you didn't know differently you would swear he was Blad. The songwriting is solid, and sometimes better than that, as on the energetic title track. When the band tries to go all epic, they don't quite have the chops for it, but overall this is an entertaining album by a band who really flash a lot of potential. |
