"Grindcore Turku", the packaging for this compilation says. For those unfamiliar with Finland (i.e., everyone but me), Turku is a city on Finland's southwest coast that raging Death/Grind lunatics Cannibal Accident call home, so you can at least say that Encyclopedia Cannibalicum: Minimal Results with Maximal Efforts is honest about what it entails.

Anyway, this compilation includes the band's 19-track debut, some MCDs and EPs, and three bonus tracks, all released between 2009 and 2016. That's a little over 75 minutes of content, and frankly, it's way too much for a single listen. A lot of what makes this kind of music fun is how brief it all is, so listening to this all-in-one sitting makes it really drag on.

Cut this into two or three sessions, however, and it's more of the short, vicious outbursts of Grindcore with a pinch of raw, simple Death Metal that this band has always delivered. This isn't exactly original music, with every idea being one Napalm Death had decades ago and handling it like fellow countrymen Disgrace and Pakeni do, albeit with less gore and slime. Then again, we're not here for originality, we're here to slam our heads into concrete and manically laugh at songs with titles like "Accidental Cannibal", "Born in Vacuumpack", "Ass-fed for Nutrition", "Meat Is Murder (and Murder Is Good)", and "Nuclear Semenstorm", all containing lyrics that reflect the band's blatantly sick and twisted sense of humor. This is hardly an essential release even by that standard, but it's good ol' fashioned brain-dead fun all the same.
