I've been following Chile's Nuclear since their 2010 album, Jehovirus, a release I liked quite a bit. They haven't put out anything on that level in the past 10 years though they have been consistent and, Murder of Crows, their fifth full-length, continues the trend. Brutal, South American thrash with harsh vocals and pounding drums are the hallmarks of Nuclear's sound and both are on full display on tracks like "Misery Inc." and "Useless to Mankind." The singing has gotten screamier over the years, but we aren't in Pantera territory just yet. I don't hear the same quality of lead work from the guitars as I did on Jehovirus, which is disappointing, but Murder of Crows is still a load of bricks dropping on your head. Nuclear are in their groove on this album and if you've liked their previous material, you should enjoy this one as well. |
