Damn. ThrashWall may have a silly name, but this Portuguese act plays a frenzied, first-rate blend of Thrash and Crossover that's equal parts Testament and Nuclear Assault on their self-titled debut. Nothing soft or trendy here, just an honest, violent blast of sharp riffs and energetic, punky songs that hit you like a nice and friendly punch in the groin. The playing is tight and proficient, with vocalist Luís Rodrigues sounds a good bit like a young Chuck Billy if he had a higher tone, and the production is perfect for the retro sound they're clearly striving for. Honestly, they do it all so well that I can see these guys being the next big thing in the current resurgence of retro-Thrash. Until then, songs like the rocking "Warehouse Rampage" and "War Outside the Wall" will lead you to forming living room mosh pits with friends in no time, and at the end of the day, that's what Crossover Thrash is all about. Highly recommended. |
