Liquid Flesh are an oddball Death Metal act from France with two full-lengths under their belt since 2014, with Chair Liquide being their latest. The basis of their sound is a rocking, slightly punky Death Metal, but it's mixed with the dirtier aspects of Celtic Frost's style and even the kind of unorthodox riffing you'd expect to find in a Demilich song, particularly on the twisted title track. Despite these comparisons, I can't say that Liquid Flesh are reminiscent of any one band, and while some familiar riff patterns and direct arrangements make them easily accessible to the Death Metal masses, they're still able to stand out from the crowd, mostly with songs like the moody, almost jazzy "Twin Freaks" and the Cadaver-esque "Pluie Acide". If you're looking for some terrific Death Metal that's a little out of the ordinary, then Chair Liquide has you covered. |
