I could say that this is a thrash band, but that would be an understatement as Demoniac err on the extreme side of the genre. That's hardly surprising; whatever is in the water in Chile makes them like–and make–their metal extreme. The most surprising thing on So It Goes is the occasional use of a clarinet. You read that right: A clarinet. On a thrash album. That's as weird as it sounds. I hated it at first, but the sound has slowly been growing on me even though it still kind of sounds out of place. But that's only a few minutes and the rest of the album is fast, savage, heavy and insane thrash—maybe I should just say "demoniac thrash" and leave it at that. If it weren't for the clarinet, there would be nothing remotely mellow on this album. If you like thrash that's anything but commercial and don't mind some weirdness, So It Goes is certainly worth a listen. |
