Oooooh yeaaaaah. Sometimes you need a barrage of raw, chaotic and violent music and Unholy Nordic Noise is just what the doctor ordered. Think first-wave black metal with a punkish vibe but played at breakneck speed and this is what you get here. Reaper play it pedal to the metal and then some. I'm really hearing early '80s guitars here and there's a strong Motörhead-ish guitar vibe here, just played very fast. The croacky vocals are ear-piercing and the lyrics mostly hard to decipher and they're a perfect fit for the musical savagery at play here. I've rarely heard something this fast, violent and chaotic that manages to let the old-school base sound pierce through like this, and that makes this album pretty fucking cool in my book. |
